All Settled

Well I'm here in Logan finally! It feels so good to be back. I'm sharing a room with my one of my roommates last year, Jessica. Ha ha it's the "Jessica Room." We got all unpacked and settled in yesterday and I must say I think our room looks pretty dang cute. I'm enjoying it. Last night I hung out with my new roommates and we got to know each other a little. I really like them, they are cute and fun and we all get a long really well.

It's kind of funny to see what a difference there is from last year to this year. Last year my parents moved me up and helped me unpack all my stuff and took me grocery shopping. This year I gave my parents the goodbye hugs at my house and then moved up myself. This year, since I'm living in the same apartment complex that I lived in last year, so it's pretty nice because I already know so many people who are also returnees.

My friend Julane from home just graduated high school and decided to come to USU. I'm so excited for her to experience the college life! And she lives across the street from me so we can still play lots. So that should be fun!

What's New

I got a new purse

I got some new clothes

I got a new camera

I got a new Job

And... I got a new Phone!

I feel like a new woman! Ha ha now all I need is a new car! Ha yeah... that would be nice. I was sick of my razor and the little quirky problems it was having ever so often, so I went and bought a new phone! It's the motorola Rival. I love it so much already! It's purple and really cute. It's one of those that you slide up and it has a full keyboard, which I was thinking would be kinda hard to get used to, but it actually hasn't been that bad and it's kind of fun!

Side note: This is my last week of summer... and my last week at home. I move my stuff up on Tuesday and then will probably be going up to stay on Friday. Also my last day of work at Dick's Market was on Saturday (yesterday). It feels Really good to be done with that store... at least until I come back for Christmas break. So I didn't actually quit, BUT if all goes well then those few weeks during Christmas will be my last! In other words I'm hoping that I will be able to get a job next summer in Logan and stay up there.

Good News Minute

Here's my Good News for today:

I Got A Job!!!

Yesterday I drove up to Logan for a little interview type thing for an on campus job as a child development lab staff. They had one position left and eleven applicants... and they picked ME! Yay! I'm so excited! I will be working in the lab but not necessarily with the children. I'll be more of a behind the scenes girl doing lots of different things like making name tags, copies, changing animal cages, raking sand pit, etc. It will be a nice change from my job right now so I'm pretty stoked!

That's pretty much all my good news... EXCEPT for the fact that I move back up to Logan NEXT WEEK!!! Ahh I'm so excited!!

I Finally Got It!

Well, I finally got my new toy. And I absolutely LOVE it to death!!! It is so so much fun to play with!
Nikon D60. Isn't it just beautiful? :)

First Day With Camera:

*Sorry I don't know why, but the pictures don't look as good when I put them on here... the originals look great though!

Girls Night:

Lexie was so being so cute the other day. I got out my camera and was snapping pictures of her, but couldn't get her to smile. However, as soon as the flash would go off she would laugh and laugh and cover her face. Later she was trying to grab my camera so I let her push the button and take pictures. She thought it was so much fun and just kept taking pictures of nothing. For her last picture she stuck her face right in front of the lens as she pushed it, which totally blinded her. She thought that was pretty fun too I guess. What a goofy girl!

I'd say it's about time for a new phone...

Well.
This morning I woke up to my phone alarm, which after pressing every single buttom, wouldn't go off. The solution to the problem? Simply turning my phone off. I did that and then turned it back on.

*This is becoming more of a frequent phenomenon as the days go by*

SOoo... soon after trying to send a text I realized I have no service. No matter where I go! This same exact random occurrence happened to me last Saturday when I was getting ready to head up to Bear Lake. I had to use my mom's phone to get a hold of people but eventually they both started to die from searching for service all day. So up until about 10 at night that day my phone had absolutely no service (with the exception of a half hour maybe).

So i'm not really looking forward to a day without phone service... Sorry if anyone is trying to get a hold of me.

I don't know about you, but this doesn't sound normal to me...?? I'd say it's time for a new phone!

Camping!

So I've had a craving to go camping for the past like five months or so, and I finally got to go!! It was a blast! Last weekend me and a small group of friends drove up to St. Charles, Idaho (by Bear Lake) and camped in porcupine campground for just one night.

We went up to Minnetonka cave and went on a tour through it which was pretty awesome.

Inside the cave

Jess, Kyle, Jenni, and I

We all decided to Model Kyle's hat that he bought on his trip to Asia

There's only one word needed to describe this: Creepster

* Darrell introduced us to a new delicious creation: Banana Boats! You take a banana and slice it down the middle (while still in peel) then dice it and take out some chunks. Fill in the holes with broken up reeses peanut butter cups and marshmallows! Then wrap in tin foil and put in fire for like ten ish minutes. Yum Yum! *

Saturday morning we went to Bear Lake at played in the water and the beach. The water was a little cold at first but was quite refreshing. It was overcast for most of the time we were out there.... and that combined with my stupidness about not wearing sunscreen equals lots and lots pain for me. Both me and my roommate Jessica now have awful awful sunburns that don't appear to be getting any better. My shoulders and back are real bad and it's been pretty miserable. But oh well... maybe THIS time I'll finally learn my lesson, eh?

Building sandcastles on the beach!

Jess and Kyle were convinced that theirs was better than ours... little did they know it wasn't. Ha ha and here they are thinking they are so victorious. Ha ha jk

Money, Money, Money

Ok so here's some good money news I'd like to share with you all! First of all, I had rented a movie from Redbox a few weeks ago and I'm over %100 percent positively positive that I returned it the very next day. I was looking at my checking account online a few days ago and noticed that I'd been charged $18 from Redbox. I was very confused and NOT happy. I called them up and talked to a lady who said that the eighteen dollars was for Bedtime Stories (really good one, I recommend it), which was the movie that I'd rented a few weeks ago. I was very confused thinking that that could not possibly be correct. The lady gave me a couple free Promo codes (as if that makes everything all better, especially since I can easily get free promo codes other places) and hung up. After talking to her I figured it all out in my head and realized that I for sure returned it the very next day - at 2:06 pm to be exact - and I was determined to get my money back! I then sent them a very detailed e-mail and asked for a refund. They responded and asked me a few questions and said they would investigate. I was feeling a little discouraged, especially when I didn't hear back for a few days, BUT today I got an e-mail from them and they apologized for the inconvenience and are giving my money back!!! Wahoo!!

Also, this summer I have been working hard trying to earn enough money to pay for school this coming fall. I had tried to estimate how much I would make over the summer and see if I would have enough come August and I wasn't sure if I would be able to pay for it all. The fact that they raised tuition this year was not any help either. I just sent a thousand dollar check to pay for part of my rent leaving me with very little in my account... which caused me to worry a little. We were really slow applying for FAFSA this year (financial aid) so I didn't think that I would be getting much help from them... BUT the other day I finally received notice that I'd been awarded financial aid and I just had to go to USU's website and accept it. I went there and to my wonderful surprise I've been awarded $2,600... PER SEMESTER!!! I was in total shock as I read it. I thought "No way. This can't be right! That's a LOT!" but fortunately it is right! I almost cried tears of joy, literally! I was SO happy and I just feel so grateful! The best part is, is that when you add that to my scholarship... it turns out I'll be getting over $900 BACK!! Which will help pay for the rest of my rent and part of my books!! I feel so unbelievably relieved! So now with what I have left in the bank plus the rest that I'll be making the next month will be plenty for me to live off of. I'm also planning on getting a job when I go up to Logan and now I will also be able to buy a digital SLR camera that I've been dying to get!! Man life is just so great! And I love free money! It's so fantastic!
