Spring Break!

Day ONE:  Viva Las Vegas

We started out our trip with a night in Las Vegas.  Being a Tuesday, we got a good deal on a nice hotel (which then got upgraded :), and cheap tickets to a show called "The Mentalist."

This guy was crazy and we have no clue how he did all of his tricks... As you can see I was a lucky participant in one of his final/big tricks.  It involved him being blindfolded and 4 nail guns (one of which was loaded)... talk about scary!

I even got a signed DVD :)

Watching the fountain from the ground

This was our VIEW from our hotel room in Ceasar's Palace!!!  We just watched it forever!  I LOVE the Bellagio fountain!

Day TWO:  Off to Cali!

We headed out to California, stopping in Long Beach to go to the aquarium.

Jeff conquering his fear and petting a jelly fish!  So proud :)

Satisfying my Chicken Maison craving.  We ate it during our last california trip with the Wegner's and I've been craving it ever since.

Day THREE:  San Diego

We drove down to San Diego and went hiking at Torrey Pines!  (Flat Rock in the background)

We drove out to Coronado Island and saw the old hotel and ate lunch on the beach.

Our final stop in San Diego was my new favorite place:  La Jolla's Cove!

So many adorable Sea Lions!

Lots of Seals as well!

Funny Story:  The sea lions got ticked off when some really smart guy climbed over to a rock in the water that was just too close for their comfort.  The sea lions, who were once peacefully sleeping, all woke up and started barking and jumping into the water.  We thought they were going to go attack him!

Then they started doing this..... ha ha!  Not sure what that means.

I'm telling you this kid was really smart... it was high tide so he was getting drenched up to his waste from waves, while holding a nice camera in his hands.  Hmm, was it really worth the picture dude?  I doubt it.  Especially since he slipped and nearly went under on his way back.

Day FOUR:  African Safari

On Friday, we finally made it out to the Safari Park after one flat tire and 500 dollars spent on four new tires.

Riding the train!

There are only 7 of this type of Rhino left in the World!  Two of which live here at the Park.

They have an event called the "Cheetah Run."  It was pretty cool to watch how fast he was!

My favorite:  The cutest baby gorilla ever!!

We had a great time in southern California, even though it was not very warm (especially near the coast).  We got to stay with Jeff's grandparents which was really great to have them to ourselves and for me to get to know them better!  We also got to visit Jeff's brother's family and have dinner with them!

Day FIVE: Driving, and Driving, and... Planes!

Saturday was spent driving home.  It was really windy practically the whole way home, but particularly through Nevada.  It was pretty comical because we were playing "dodge the sagebrush as it goes flying across the highway."

This time the sagebrush won... ha ha.

We also stopped in St. George to pick up Chris.  He had been watching the air show, and we got there just before the Blue Angels were starting, so we met up with him to watch the end of the show (this involved climbing a mountain of course).  We were up on this mountain right next to the airport watching the planes fly all around us!  You couldn't have paid for better seats!  They would fly right over us!!  Coolest. Thing. Ever.  Jeff was as giddy as a four year old boy.

Gotta' Love Spontaneity

So here we are, two days already into Spring Break, and only one day away from our somewhat planned small vacation, and we find ourselves still deciding/completely changing our plans... ha ha!  We were originally just going to do one night in Vegas and a few nights in St. George... however we just decided that we are now going to California!  Ha ha... yup, you gotta' love spontaneity :)  However I feel better about it because when calculating the costs out, california will end up being cheaper for us anyway because we will be staying with Jeff's grandparents - It's just a longer way to go.  Another benefit is that we will get to see some of his family!

What's lame is that San Diego is currently not much warmer than here... thanks to this crazy "winter" aka Spring, but it will still be great!  Mostly I'm just enjoying this long break from school... but I'm worried that I'm going to have a very hard time jumping back in for another month and a half.  I guess the optimistic way of looking at it, is that it is only one more month and a half!

A Year Ago Today...

It was exactly one year ago on this very day, that Jeff took me flying over the snow covered Cache Valley and asked me to marry him :)

I am so lucky to have this guy by my side forever!
