Remember the Alamo...

A week ago we found ourselves on a very spontaneous trip in desperate search of some much needed Vitamin D.... aka Glorious Sunshine!  Jeff had 5 days off coming up so we really wanted to go do something.  Our search for a perfect location actually began a couple weeks before his days off, but the final decision wasn't made until 11:00 pm the night before.... ha :)

All I wanted was a relaxing beach vacation, with some sun/warmth, that was also "exotic" and affordable... simple right?! :)

Well it all started with Puerto Rico, then moved to Dominican Republic, then to the Bahamas, onto the Caribbean in general, back to Puerto Rico, we threw Mexico in there for a little while, and finally settled on Maui!

A few days later we moved from Maui to the Florida Keys, then to Florida, back to Puerto Rico, then to Mexico again, back to Florida.... with a final destination of *drumroll please*.....

San Antonio, TEXAS!

Totally random, yes.  But it ended up being a totally perfect choice.  Yes I know it didn't quite fit my criteria... but it was warm, and pretty much the cheapest thing we could do and we had a blast!  It was romantic, and totally low-key relaxing.  Awesome!

So this is called the "Riverwalk", and our hotel was right on it (to the left).  We were only about a 15 or 20 minute walk away from the most happening part of the river where most of the hotels and restaurants are located so we had quite the perfect location.

The riverwalk is gorgeous and is beautifully lanscaped with bridges, awesome rock walls with vines covering them, huge trees, arches, waterfalls, and staircases leading up to the street level!  Ahh I was in heaven, it was so incredibly picturesque!!  I didn't get any pictures of these beautiful things but it has become one of my new favorite places!
(It would be the most awesomest place to shoot Bridals)

So the ducks along the river are little beggers.  We were eating at this delicious mexican restaurant and this little friend sat at my feet forever, just staring up at me, next stretched out, with her little mouth a mere inches from my side.  I refused to feed her and she refused to stand down.

Finally after telling her for the last time that I was NOT going to feed her, I looked away for two seconds, and suddenly I felt her nip me right in the bum!  Yes, that's right... a Duck bit my BUM!!!

So Katie (if you're reading this), be warned... if you ever go to San Antonio, it's not the geese that you have to worry about...

This is the really old San Fernando Catholic church

The Alamo!!

My own little Davie Crockett!

Yay shorts and T-shirts weather!!

Warning:  The next few photos may cause serious blindness due to high amounts of reflectivity off extremely white surfaces...

Ahhh!  I warned you!  These poor little leggies haven't seen the sun in awhile...

By time we made it to the pool the sun decided to hide behind some clouds... so it actually wasn't very warm.   But we pretended that it was ha ha.

And we didn't actually get in the pool... it was ice cold.

But we did find a random friend!  Apparently this is the hotel's mascot...??  It was strange... but he's "exotic" right?  So hey!  That fits my criteria!  Turns out it was the perfect trip after all :)
